Building the instrument: First results and why a 2015 Huawei matters

We are excited to start our journey with thermal benchmarking.

We're starting with a 2015 Huawei from a drawer, because the methodology has to be right before the hardware is expensive.

The testing rig

We've begun assembling the rig that will accurately measure power draw and surface temperature over time. It's not enough to just run an app and see when it crashes; we need to log the exact moment the device decides to thermal throttle, and correlate that with external temperature probes.
